How can we work together?

Meet your Trainer and Owner of Leash & Treat

Ahoj, new friend! My name is Kamila, and I’m the enthusiastic dog trainer behind Leash & Treat Dog Training. I’m originally from Slovakia—so if you ever wonder where my accent comes from—and I moved to Canada in 2018. I’m a dog mom to my chocolate Labrador, Luna, and a mom to my little human, Matteo. Why am I telling you this? Because that’s my reality, and I want to share it with you as part of Leash & Treat’s mission.

At Leash & Treat, we help dog owners and their pets understand each other’s realities and prepare for any real-life adventure! My chocolate Lab, Luna, inspired me to help owners like you. When I first got her, she was, well, nuts. I didn’t have the extensive knowledge I have today, so my first thought was that she would grow out of it. But she didn’t!

I still remember the day when Luna was around one year old, fully grown. We were playing in the backyard, and when my mother-in-law showed up, Luna went full speed toward her, jumped on her, and body-slammed her to the floor, then kept licking her out of excitement. While I knew Luna wasn’t a bad dog, it was horrifying to see my mother-in-law hit the ground with a 35 kg dog over her. That’s when I decided to gain the knowledge to understand why this was happening and how to change these behaviors, which, frankly, were becoming dangerous.

There are many dog trainers and resources for dogs with what we consider actual problems such as reactivity, aggression, or anxiety. But what about our overly-friendly, excitable dogs? In all honesty, basic obedience is not enough. Here at Leash & Treat, we will help you understand your dog so you can meet their specific needs to keep their energy balanced while teaching them polite and calm behaviors through positive reinforcement and an open-minded approach that won’t take hours out of your day.

Kamila worked with our 1.5 years old Pomeranian mix. Nalah absolutely loved her and responded to her from day one. Kamila is very methodical, gets to know your pup but also the owner and home environment. She listens to your needs and devices a plan for success for you and your pup.She is always available to respond to your questions between the sessions and answers promptly. We have been very lucky to work with her and get our pup on the road to proper behaviour.

Loved working with Kamila. She was great with our dogs, listened to our specific worries, and gave tailored training sessions and taught us exercises to practice on our own. Kamila is so good at reading dog body language and explaining her reasoning for everything. We were really worried about our reactive dog with our new puppy and Kamila really helped us. Both dogs went from being contained to their own room, to being near each other only under supervision, to loving each other now.
